WEST VILLAGE TOWNHOUSE

Located in New York’s West Village, this townhouse sits within the neighborhood’s historic landmark district. studioMDA preserved the character and identity of the existing façade while completely reimagining the interior through a full gut renovation, creating a clean, spacious contemporary residence.

Originally a three-story building, the townhouse was expanded to five levels with the addition of a fourth-floor penthouse and a new cellar. The residence includes four bedrooms, offices, a den, garage, living room, kitchen, mezzanine, and front and rear terraces. Below grade, the cellar accommodates a pool, gym, storage, and wine cellar.

The original façade, with its distinctive horse windows, brings generous natural light into the residence. A large skylight further draws daylight deep into the building, illuminating the interior from the upper terrace down to the first floor and creating a visual connection across the home’s multiple levels.
