MARKUS DOCHANTSCHI

Markus Dochantschi founded studioMDA in New York City in 2002. Trained in Germany, he received his Diploma in Architecture from Hochschule Darmstadt in 1995.

Prior to founding studioMDA, Dochantschi spent seven years at Zaha Hadid Architects, where he worked as a director, project director, project architect, and designer on numerous international projects, including the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati.

Alongside his professional practice, Dochantschi has maintained a longstanding involvement in architectural education. He taught an Advanced Studio at Yale University with Zaha Hadid, Stefan Behnisch, and Gerald Hines in 2003, and from 2008 to 2017 taught Advanced Studios at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP). He also served as Director of GSAPP's Global Cities Architecture Program (GCAP).

Dochantschi has lectured at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD) and has been a guest critic at the Architectural Association, Cooper Union, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, ETH Zurich, and the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
