NOHO LOFT

The design of this NoHo loft offers an alternative to the open-plan living commonly associated with Manhattan lofts. Rather than treating the residence as a single continuous space, studioMDA curated gallery-like vistas throughout the living areas while giving the sleeping spaces distinct identities and a greater sense of privacy.

At the heart of the children’s area, a multifunctional wall creates a “home within the home.” Integrating toy storage, an Astroturf-covered play area, a lofted bunk, and intimate reading cocoons, the installation is designed around the scale and imagination of a child. Conceived as spaces for retreat, play, and discovery, the cocoons provide small sanctuaries for reading and daydreaming, transforming the wall into an imaginative landscape within the residence.
