Fifth Avenue Penthouse is located in the historic building on 1020 5th Avenue, across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The 6,700-square-foot co-op has been owned by the Kress family since it’s construction in 1925. The ceiling of the main ballroom was shipped from a Venetian palace and the marble for the staircase was drawn from Michelangelo’s preferred quarry. Cleared of furniture and art, the apartment still retains many of it’s charming original details. The home consists of 2 levels. It features an 800-square-foot salon/ballroom with 18-foot ceilings on the 13th floor, as well as a kitchen, dining room, library and 3 bedroom suites. The 14th Floor has a terrace covering almost all 4 sides of the building. The floor also includes a family room, solarium, 2 bedroom suites and the staff’s suite. studioMDA was responsible for the renovation and preservation of the interior spaces, the decoration of all rooms, and the design of a new terrace on the 15th Floor.
